ーー What inspired you to work at SG Group?
During my student years, I was working in New York and learned about Shingo Gokan, which sparked my interest in SG Group. After traveling and working abroad, I returned to Japan. With the job market tough due to the pandemic, I moved to Tokyo with just a suitcase and directly approached Gokan, saying, “Please let me work at SG!” And here I am today.
ーー What is your current role and responsibilities?
I am a bartender at The SG Club, utilizing my language skills for guest shifts abroad and consulting on menu development.
ーー What is important to you in your work?
Never forgetting my beginner’s mindset and staying grateful. When I first joined SG, I had no experience and couldn’t even shake a cocktail shaker. I remember practicing every day at home, feeling frustrated. I owe my progress to the many people who supported me. In this profession, we shine because of our customers. I always approach my work with a sense of gratitude.
ーー What makes SG Group attractive??
The camaraderie among the staff! Working together every day means we sometimes clash, but we also push each other to grow. I’m about to hit my four-year mark with SG, and we’ve gained many new members. When a staff member who started as a barback is promoted to bartender, it feels like a personal victory for me. We celebrate together, and during tough times, we support each other. The biggest charm of SG Group is this amazing team spirit.
Personal Bio
At 15, I decided to study abroad, gaining experiences in California, New York, Switzerland, and Qatar. With parents who ran a restaurant, I've been interested in hospitality since childhood. Inspired by my long-held dream of becoming a bartender, I joined SG Group to pursue this profession.
